MTD 4 Income Tax is an affordable and very easy to use HMRC-Recognised software for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.

It is for:

  • A sole trader or landlord registered for Self Assessment.
  • An agent working on behalf a client.

who needs to submit quarterly updates for:

  • Being self-employed as a sole trader
  • Renting out a UK property
  • Renting out a foreign property

PLEASE NOTE: if you receive qualifying income from self-employment and/or property, you’ll be legally required to use Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax – based on the level of qualifying income – from the following dates:

  • April‌‌‌ 2026, if your qualifying income is over £50,000 in the‌‌‌ 2024‌‌‌ to‌‌‌ 2025‌‌‌ tax year
  • April‌‌‌ 2027, if your qualifying income is over £30,000 in the 2025 to 2026 tax year
  • April‌‌‌ 2028, if your qualifying income is over £20,000 in the‌‌‌ 2026‌‌‌ to‌‌‌ 2027‌‌‌ tax year

Because you'll be legally required to use Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax, you could get a penalty for not sending quarterly updates on-time.

MTD 4 Income Tax supports all the functionalities for Quarterly Updates and Tax Return, in particular:

It is important to note, to protect your privacy, this software does not store any of your personal or financial data in our systems. The only data the software stores in the servers is your email, password (hashed) and national insurance number to allow the login.

The software stores the digital records in your device and can be exported or deleted at any time.
